Values and Principles
WIO recognises the importance of being an out organisation which is creative,
flexible and innovative. We are committed to community education and social
change principles. We use a collaborative approach and open and respectful
communication. We believe in the intrinsic value of all people.
Strategic Partners
WIO is well respected throughout the sector and is supported by other community
sector organisations and government agencies. WIO is a partner organisation
with the Tasmanian government through the Tasmania Together Progress Board and
is represented on Departmental Health, Police and Education GLBTI Reference Groups.
WIO has Deductible Gift Recipient status from the Australian Taxation Office which
affords the organisation a range of taxation incentives for staff and donors.
Stakeholders
WIO is proudly supported and funded by the Department of Health and Human Services
through Population Health to deliver a state-wide service to Tasmanians. Current
funding is provided on a triennial basis 2009-2012. Those who use the service include
people negotiating their sexuality and or gender, family, friends, work colleagues
and fellow students and any other person who provides support.
