    In the Community

Our work focuses on the LGBTI and the broader community providing events, advocacy and policy development, the WIO web site, library and newsletter as well as resources and information. The library is an invaluable resource and we are always seeking books and financial donations to purchase current publications.

We participate in a number of events that make us more visible in public arenas, for example:

    • The Dorothies Awards - recognising inclusive practice
    • The Unifying Voice Award - presented to the selected piece at TasPride Inc's annual Artfully Queer exhibition
    • The WIO LGBTI Life Award
    • IDAHO Breakfast - an annual event to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

Examples of community events are participation in the West Coast Health Fest, Rural Health Week, Tasmania's Pride Parade and the TasPride picnic. We seek opportunities to collaborate at community events and to develop strong relationships with other organisations.
