A FREE gender-affirming garment fitting experience for the folks of Lutruwita/Tasmania.

I’m Lones (she/her).

Through my work I have supported people who have needed to access gender-affirming compression tops and were struggling to work out how to fit them and which ones would be best suited. Many items were returned and replaced causing so much frustration for every person waiting for some euphoria. I realised that Tasmania doesn’t have a ‘shop front’ for these garments. Now more than ever the community needs a compassionate, trauma-informed space where they know they will be seen for who they are and be assisted with what they need.

This understanding has lead me on a journey to provide this service, for free, to those folks who want to be fitted with the most appropriate and safest options for compression tops, binders, and tucking or packing underwear. In many cases I can direct people to different funds that will financially support the purchase.

I bring to this space almost 40 years of nursing and even longer as a seamstress. I am an ethicist who speaks out for the transgender and gender-diverse community, and a counsellor. Most importantly, I am a queer mother of trans kids, and I am an engaged and active advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.

I will never say you will feel safe, as I don’t know your journey, and most come with complexities. I will tell you that I offer a safe space where you can be you, and I will show you the respect and care you deserve.

And I love to go to an op-shop. So if you just want a fun time trying on a new you, I’m your person. You will always need feathers for the frame.
